Description
A storm that blew through the West Valley this afternoon left the Ocotillo District and downtown Glendale area littered with downed trees and power lines and flooded roads. Power is out throughout the district said Councilman Jamie Aldama, although power has been restored to some of the affected areas. The downed power lines were on Ocotillo Road between 53rd and 55th avenues. The storm also brought hail along with the wind that also blew away awnings from homes and shingles off roofs. Residents throughout the area taped off streets and began clearing trees and branches off streets. Aldama was driving throughout the district, checking damage and talking with residents after the storm.

Description
Wind from a powerful storm damaged buildings and knocked down trees and utility poles as a low-pressure system moved through the Phoenix area. Damage from the storm late Sunday appeared to be heaviest on the metro area's near west side. It included heavy damage to cotton warehouses, including some which lost their roofs, and a gas station's carport-style roof that was knocked over. At the Calcot warehouse facility near 51st Avenue and Missouri, there were more than 30 buildings on the property and now half of those buildings are gone. Some of the structures were made of wood and others steel, but they were no match for the powerful storm.
