Description A massive haboob swept through Phoenix on Tuesday, lingering above the Arizona capital for hours and creating an eyesore for residents. The dust storm picked up as a result of the showers and thunderstorms that popped around the state, with gusty outflow winds raising the elements. With another area of low pressure swinging a cold front in tomorrow, weather experts say another storm is likely. Arizona is no stranger to large dust storms, or haboobs, during the summer monsoon period, but meteorologists say Tuesday's storm is unseasonably early. The National Weather Service says a large cloud of dust was first spotted near Eloy about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A massive haboob swept through Phoenix on Tuesday, lingering above the Arizona capital for hours and creating an eyesore for residents.
The dust storm picked up as a result of the showers and thunderstorms that popped around the state, with gusty outflow winds raising the elements.
With another area of low pressure swinging a cold front in tomorrow, weather experts say another storm is likely, according to My Fox Phoenix.

It's not summertime yet, but a dust storm imoved through the Phoenix metropolitan area on Tuesday, blanketing the area in thick smoke

The Arizona Department of Public Safety said the storm caused at least five crashes along I-10, with the first storm hitting about 4pm

Arizona is no stranger to large dust storms, or haboobs, during the summer monsoon period, but meteorologists say Tuesday's storm is unseasonably early.

A dust storm blew in while on vacation in Gilbert, Az. I flew my DJI Phantom up to get a view of the inbound storm. I didn't keep it up there long as it started getting quite windy. Filmed on a GoPro 3.

Description

Monsoon-like weather blew into the Valley on Monday. Weather radar showed several storm cells circling the Valley. Severe weather was reported around the Phoenix metro area. KTAR's Bruce St. James said there was a semi-truck that was blown over on Interstate 10 and there was nearly zero visibility on I-10 near Pecos Road and that some freeway signs were down. In a tweet, SRP said power was cut to about 4,500 customers. The storm also brought a large dust cloud to Chandler and Ahwatukee. The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for both Pinal and Maricopa counties that was effective until 5:55 p.m. A lightning alert was issued at Sky Harbor Airport, meaning that lightning was spotted within 10 miles of the airport.

PHOENIX -- Another dust storm and monsoon blew through the Phoenix metropolitan area after dropping heavy rain in Tucson.
Winds from an approaching storm system around sundown Thursday pushed a 2,500-foot-high wall of dust over most of the Phoenix area, lowering visibility to a quarter-mile.
Officials at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport say the dust caused brief delays for some flights.
In Tucson, authorities pulled six people from vehicles in flooded roads. Tucson Electric Power Co. was working to restore power to 700 customers.
Arizona's monsoon season began June 15 and runs through Sept. 30.
