Record snowfall in Seattle shattered the day's previous snowfall record of 0.4 of an inch from 1957.

PHOTOS: Record snowfall whitens Seattle

The snow that whitened Seattle Saturday evening not only set a record, but it also created problems for travelers while entertaining kids and those young at heart.
The same storm that returned snow and ice to Portland, Ore., on Saturday, spread northward and dropped 2.9 inches of snow at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Saturday evening.
That amount shattered the day's previous snowfall record of 0.4 of an inch from 1957.
Records at the airport date back to 1945, and the Seattle-Tacoma Airport averages 6.8 inches of snow yearly.
