Flash Flood in USA on Monday, 01 July, 2013 at 17:52 (05:52 PM) UTC.
Description | |
A heavy storm that moved through New Jersey Monday, brought flooding to many low areas. A number of roads had flooded in Paramus, New Jersey. Route 17 saw heavy flooding after the early morning storms. Just north of the Garden State Plaza near Paramus, cars were seen being pushed by firefighters as the heavy rains made it instantly too deep for cars to move. No injuries were reported. "I didn't think that was going to happen, but it was up to my knee when I got out of my car," said Caroline McCourt. Once the rain stopped, the flooding seemed to recede fairly quickly. In nearby Paterson, major roadways were under 6 feet of water until the rains stopped and the water quickly receded. Eyewitness News crews captured the flooding on 11th street. Storm drains appeared to be clogged with a lot of trash and that was contributing to the floods. Rescue crews were using rafts to take stranded motorists to safety. More rain is expected Monday afternoon. |
